A brief report of the second week in China:
Frans Vandenbosch 09.10.2024
It is with pain in my heart that I have to admit that Chinese chocolate is tastier than our “Belgian” chocolate:
Coming soon at Aldi: Dutch yoghurt, made in Shanghai:
This afternoon spent in the tiny, traditional shops of Tianzifang along Taikang lu in Shanghai:
Last night we once again ate well in Huanghe lu (Yellow River Street)
Yesterday spend the whole day in Yu yuan (Yu garden) in the centre of the old city.
Yesterday afternoon “Xiao Long Bao” lunch at the famous restaurant on the nine corners bridge in Yu yuan:
Nowhere in the world have I eaten such tasty dumplings.
This is “Hanfu“, traditional Chinese costume from the Han Dynasty, 2000 years ago:
Even more Yu Yuan:
This is 锦鲤鱼 jǐnlǐ fish. Why do we call that in Europe with a Japanese word “koi”, although this was invented in China ?
The American railways were built in the 19th century by Chinese. This is a monument to all the Chinese who died in the process:
On Friday 11/10/2024 we’ll go to Kunming in Yunnan Province, close to the border with Laos and Myanmar.
  …
Remember, as I told you before, I came to China to enjoy the freedom here in this country.
… the freedom that I miss so much in Western Europe.
Can you imagine that at all?
