| Khantoke Is a famous dish in Chiang Mai It is made with Northern style Thai-Burmese pork and curry, Chiang Mai pork sausage, chilli paste dip, tomato-chilli paste dip, crispy pork skin, steamed pork sausage, boiled egg, steamed vegetables and Thai sticky rice. |

| Tha Pae gate This gate, on the eastern wall of the perfectly square city wall, dates back to the year 1296 when king Mangrai founded Chiang Mai. It was originally known as Chiang Ruak gate after the nearby village of Chiang Ruak. Afterwards, Tha Phae “raft landing” was the name given to the gate in the outer, eastern rampart of the city near Wat Saen Fang. |

| Wrap up: I deeply enjoyed the 3 weeks in China, I charged my batteries by the numerous warm conversations with Chinese people. Laos was interesting too, but not as exciting as China. Thailand (except for the food) is not my cup of tea. Remember, as I have said before, I go to China to enjoy the freedom in that country. … the freedom that I miss so much in Western Europe. Can you somewhat imagine that? |
